2. Professor-Sponsored Waiver Vouchers
At universities that normally charge an admission fee (such as KAIST, Yonsei, or Korea University), individual laboratory directors (Professors) frequently have a quota of application fee waiver vouchers or corporate discretionary funds. If you secure agreement from a professor during the cold-email stage, ask:
“Does your department provide an application fee waiver code for prospective Research Assistants, or should I proceed with the standard portal payment?”
In many instances, the professor’s administrative coordinator will provide a unique promo code to input during final portal submission.
3. Fee Reimbursement Agreements
If a university portal strictly requires payment and does not support online waiver codes, some professors offer to reimburse the application fee from their lab project budget once you arrive on campus and register your Korean bank account.
